Teaching in Jacksboro

Kids On the Land is getting ready for a great week at the Richards Ranch in Jacksboro. This is one of our favorite programs of the year. The ranch owners (John Hackley, his sister, Martha Hackley Salmon and their families) are true conservationists and have been honored by the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department as Lone Star Land Stewards. “No one will have more impact on the future of Texas Wildlife than the people who are closest to the land that sustains them both. Stewardship requires stewards and the Hackleys are some of the finest.” Joseph B.C. Fitzsimons, former Texas Parks and Wildlife Commission chairman. What a blessing to get to work with these fine folks.

This is such a wonderful example of bringing together a land owner, a school system, a community and our amazing KOL team to teach elementary students about the place where they live and the ground under their feet.

It is going to be a joyous gathering next week.
